Founding Engineer, AI Infrastructure
About the role
We are starting an AI infrastructure venture and we need the person who builds it. The product is one API in front of many models: it routes each call to the right model, keeps the data private, cuts the cost, and frees the customer from one vendor. You are the founding engineer and the technical owner. You write the first version yourself and you hire the team after it works.
The venture also has a hardware side. Part of the routing runs on our own machines, so someone has to care about what happens below the API: the servers, the GPUs, and the networking. We would rather that person be you than a second hire.
This role does not own go-to-market. A studio partner sells the product. You build it.
What you will do
- Design and build the routing API: one interface, many model providers.
- Make the routing decision on cost, latency, and privacy, and prove it with numbers.
- Run the inference fleet: Linux, GPUs, telemetry, and the alerts that wake you.
- Automate the whole pipeline in Python, from benchmarks to deploys.
- Choose the architecture, write the decision down, and hire the first two engineers.
Must-haves
- You built and shipped an AI infrastructure product yourself: an API over several models, with routing, cost control, or privacy as the point.
- Hands-on Python, and automation you wrote that other people now depend on.
- Low-level systems experience: embedded firmware, telemetry, RF or sensor hardware, or running your own compute or data-centre hardware.
- You were the founder, CTO, or first engineer of a product, so you have made the technical calls with nobody above you.
- You live in Valencia or elsewhere in Spain, and you can work in Spain or the EU without sponsorship.
- Daily use of current coding models and agents in your own work.
Nice-to-haves
- Satellite, aerospace, or other systems where a bug costs hardware.
- You ran compute for blockchain networks or another always-on workload.
- Teaching or mentoring engineers; you will train the team you hire.
- Spanish.
